It started the way most good things do—out of necessity and a little creativity.

At 15, while most people were figuring out high school, I was figuring out e-commerce. I started by listing my own clothes and pieces from my family's closets on Poshmark, and what began as a way to clear out clutter quickly became something I genuinely loved. There was something deeply satisfying about finding the right home for a piece that still had so much life left in it.

For years it stayed a side project to earn some extra money while I earned my degree in bioengineering from Caltech. Then life had other plans. After graduating, I had to get my gallbladder removed, which made working full-time impossible for awhile. So I leaned into what I'd been building for years. The shop gave me the flexibility I needed when I needed it most, and something I could enjoy, even while facing health challenges.

Today, I'm proud of what it's grown into—over 1,200 sales and a 4.9-star rating across Poshmark, Depop, and eBay, built entirely on trust, honest listings, and a real love for what I do. You can find me as @ch1candun1que on Poshmark and @hotgirlsecondhand on both Depop and eBay.

Secondhand First — Always

Sustainability has never been a trend for me, it's been a conviction. I was president of my high school's eco club long before "shopping sustainably" became a hashtag, and it's shaped the way I approach this business every single day. Every piece sold here is one less item in a landfill, one less reason to buy something new that didn't need to exist.

I also do minor repairs on pieces whenever I can—a loose button, a small hem, a little TLC—because I believe most things just need a second chance, not a replacement.

Beyond the Shop

My experience with selling secondhand also inspired me to found Mavira, a styling platform that matches people with products from small, sustainable brands.
